Content rights and source register
Copyright, sources and content rights
This page explains who owns the material shown by RunsOnMac, which limited rights are used for external store data, and which usage rights a person grants when saving a benchmark.
Effective date: 24 September 2026
In short
- You keep the copyright and mandatory personal rights in your benchmark contribution.
- By saving it, you grant RunsOnMac the usage rights needed to review, store and publish it on the website and app.
- Game names, artwork, trailers, prices and store data remain the property of their respective owners.
- Public availability does not mean that material is in the public domain.
1 RunsOnMac material
Unless a different owner or licence is named, the RunsOnMac name, original logo, interface, editorial text, source code and original graphics are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. © 2026 NGM Web & App Studios. All rights reserved.
No licence is granted to copy, republish, sell or present RunsOnMac material as another service. Ordinary linking, browser caching and uses permitted by mandatory law remain allowed.
2 Community benchmarks
The contributor keeps any copyright and non-transferable moral rights in original notes. By selecting the rights confirmation and saving a report, the contributor grants RunsOnMac a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free and time-unlimited right to store, reproduce, check, format, technically or editorially adapt, translate, combine with game and hardware records, and publicly display or make the contribution available through the RunsOnMac website and app.
The licence also permits hosting and processing providers to handle the contribution only as needed to operate RunsOnMac. The contributor confirms that the information is their own or may lawfully be submitted and contains no confidential material or third-party work used without permission. Mandatory revocation, privacy and deletion rights remain unaffected.
3 Steam data, prices and artwork
Game titles, store descriptions, regional prices, cover art, header images and trailers may be retrieved from public Steam store interfaces. They are shown for catalogue identification and purchasing context. Rights remain with Valve, the relevant publisher, developer or other rights holder. RunsOnMac does not sell, relicense or claim ownership of this material.
Steam data is provided as is, may change or become unavailable, and can vary by region. RunsOnMac is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Valve. Steam and the Steam logo are trademarks or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the United States and other countries. © 2026 Valve Corporation.
4 Other names, services and software
Mac, MacBook and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the United States and other countries and regions. Other game, store and company names belong to their respective owners. itch.io is linked only as an external destination; RunsOnMac does not copy itch.io catalogue content.
HLS video playback uses the open-source hls.js library under the Apache License 2.0. Country detection uses the public country.is service as a technical signal and falls back to browser language or English. Google, Lovable and Supabase provide technical sign-in, hosting or database services; their names do not indicate endorsement.
- Legacy external compatibility notes are short factual paraphrases of a linked public r/macgaming discussion. They remain clearly identified as external observations, are not treated as verified RunsOnMac benchmarks and are not relicensed as original RunsOnMac content.
5 Source checks and limits
RunsOnMac reviewed the active public content sources on 24 September 2026. Store media is requested from official Steam content hosts, prices and metadata come from Steam store data, hls.js has an Apache-2.0 licence, and regional detection uses a public documented service. An unrelated editorial image host was removed from the catalogue fallback.
Public access is not the same as permission for unrestricted reuse. RunsOnMac uses external material only for the identified catalogue and compatibility purpose, keeps source links where practical, does not remove ownership notices, and will stop using material when the relevant permission or source ends.
6 Copyright and correction notices
If you own rights in material shown on RunsOnMac and believe its use is unauthorised, send the exact page address, identify the protected work and your relationship to it, explain the requested action, and provide a way to contact you. RunsOnMac will review substantiated notices and correct, attribute, restrict or remove material where required.
This policy does not grant rights that RunsOnMac, a contributor or a third-party source does not own.
